About dod.directory

Built for the People the Defense Industry Forgets

Colorado is one of the most defense-dense states in America. And yet if you tried to find a complete, accurate, searchable picture of who is actually doing that work — you'd come up empty. That's the problem dod.directory was built to solve.

What We Are

dod.directory is Colorado's defense contractor directory — transparent, searchable, and built from real government contract data rather than marketing budgets. We surface the full spectrum of companies doing DoD work in Colorado: from household names like Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman to the hundreds of subcontractors, small businesses, and professional services firms that actually fill the seats, staff the programs, and deliver the mission.

We pull from public sources — USAspending.gov, SAM.gov, SBIR award databases — so every listing reflects real contract activity, not just whoever has the best SEO.

Why We Built This

The inspiration came from a simple observation: some of the most active DoD subcontractors in Colorado have almost no public visibility. Companies performing millions of dollars in Space Force contracts. Staffing firms placing cleared engineers at Boeing and L3Harris. IT shops embedded at Schriever doing classified work. These companies exist, they're hiring, they're looking for teaming partners — but nobody knows they're here.

A cleared professional searching for their next opportunity has no easy way to find them. A small 8(a) business trying to identify teaming partners for an upcoming bid has no directory to search. A prime contractor's BD team looking for qualified local subs has no central resource to pull from. dod.directory changes that.

Who We Serve

DoD Subcontractors & Small Businesses

If you're a small or mid-size defense business — 8(a), SDVOSB, HUBZone, WOSB, or SBIR award winner — your biggest challenge isn't the work, it's getting in front of the right people. dod.directory gives you a permanent, verified presence in the directory that primes, candidates, and partners are actively searching. Get found. Get on bid lists. Win more subcontracts.

Cleared Professionals & Career Seekers

Most cleared professionals default to the same short list of household names when exploring opportunities. But Colorado's defense ecosystem runs far deeper than the Big Five primes. dod.directory lets you explore the full contractor landscape — from established mid-tiers to emerging defense tech startups — so you can find the opportunity that actually fits your background, clearance level, and career goals.

The Broader Defense Community

dod.directory isn't just a company lookup tool. It's a window into where DoD money is flowing in Colorado — and what's coming next. We track trending contract opportunities and major program activity so the defense community stays informed. Whether it's the Golden Dome national missile defense initiative, Space Force ground system modernization, or NORAD/USNORTHCOM support recompetes — we connect the dots.

Our Approach

Transparency over marketing.

Every listing is grounded in public contract data. We don't take payment to add companies or inflate their presence. What you see reflects what's actually happening in the Colorado DoD ecosystem.

Breadth over exclusivity.

We intentionally include companies that don't have a Colorado address but are actively performing DoD work here. If a Virginia-based staffing firm is placing cleared professionals at Peterson Space Force Base, they belong in this directory — and they do.

Built for the sub, not the prime.

The big primes are here as anchor listings — context for the subcontractors and candidates who use the directory. Our mission is to level the playing field for the smaller companies doing critical work that nobody talks about.

Colorado First. Then the Nation.

We launched Colorado-first because depth matters more than breadth. Colorado is home to some of the most strategically important DoD installations in the country, and building authoritative, accurate coverage here gives the directory real value from day one.

Once Colorado reaches critical mass — 500+ listings, strong organic traffic, a growing community of verified companies — we'll expand state by state. Virginia, Florida, Texas, California. Wherever the defense ecosystem runs deep, dod.directory will follow.

The Team

dod.directory was founded by a Colorado defense community insider who spent years working alongside DoD subcontractors, primes, and cleared professionals — and saw firsthand how much friction existed in simply finding who was doing what, and where. This directory is the resource we always wished existed.
